stained glass comes in many forms

       is found in many places

i find mine beneath the autumn sycamores

      morning sun streams through

             gentle breezes quake leaves

                    making a kaleidoscope of

                                                  ochre

                                                      orange

                                                           yellow-green

stained enough for me

      morning light

            morning breeze

                 morning right

not a chorus

     but many solos

               jree of towhee

                      background thunder of

                                journeying jet

                                        chirps of cricket

                                               ratatat of woodpecker

many solos

one song cycle

respect

       respect the silence

             stop the human racket

                                          chatter of voice

                                                 chatter of self-talk

                                                       chatter of worries

                                                                            past

                                                                                present

                                                                                     future

silence the self &

                    listen

                       listen

                          listen

age brings its

          aches & pains

    respect for youthful bounce &

                                                     spring

age brings wisdom to prolong

                                     agility

                                         strength &

                                                endurance

nature to explore & enjoy

if you wait long enough

            look intently

                 listen actively

                      feel responsively

you will experience it

       it will refresh you

                     renew you

you will be richly rewarded

my lover’s fingers

        gently caress my cheek

                                        forearm &

                                                    lips

gentle breeze

       through canyon hollow

                      soothes my brow

in the 50’s

    most childhood yearnings

        involved a train

                          a toy train

                              a lionel train

                                 or perhaps

                                       an american flyer train

a train

       a real train

                with a real

                               whoooo   ooo

                                     smoke &

                                          clickety-clack

then came the extras

                           water tower

                                 train station

                                         beacon

and more details

                      people

                             roads

                                  houses &

                                               trees

yes

real trees

       evergreen and other life-like trees

yes life-like

black phoebe
               perches
                      tail twitches
darts
     dives &
          returns
morning watch
              bug devoured
black phoebe perches

like so many very
                         angry
                              hornets
buzzing
     thrumming
           booming
they cut a swath
    blow a storm
         masticate a meadow

hispanic workers
      do their job
irvine  returns to
                    neat & trim

flapping
   hovering
      landing
gripping
    sipping
       nourishing
butterfly & bee
      willow sap &
           afternoon breeze
a precious moment indeed
